Excursion information
Loro Parque, an animal embassy with more than 50 years of history, has become the “must-see attraction in the Canary Islands”, with over 55 million satisfied visitors since its opening. This biodiversity conservation center, covering more than 135,000 square kilometers, is home to over 40,000 animals from more than 600 species, in spaces that recreate ecosystems from all continents.
The institution, together with Loro Parque Fundación, holds the largest genetic reserve of parrots in the world. Additionally, Loro Parque acts as its main sponsor, so its visitors directly contribute to conservation efforts. The Foundation has invested more than 30 million dollars in over 300 conservation projects, through which it has managed to save 18 species from extinction and reduce the threat level of many others.
In this nature conservation center, visitors can enjoy presentations featuring parrots, sea lions, dolphins, and orcas, where the animals act as ambassadors of their species in the wild, raising awareness about the multiple threats of the natural environment.
Loro Parque has been named twice as the Best Zoo in the World by Tripadvisor. Furthermore, it is the first zoo in Europe to hold the Animal Welfare Certification “Humane Certified” from the Global Humane Society, the largest animal welfare certification organization in the world.
